Report no.3 and the last one from the European Leadership Gathering (ELG) in Riga, Latvia (4th – 8th of February 2013). These are some of the things that have been in focus during the meetings:

During the last day in Riga, the ELG focused in on city ministry. The four regions presented different strategies on how to reach the cities in Europe, knowing these are major influencers in the nations. Several leaders shared their own experience in pioneering ministry, highlighting the fact that we are a sending mission and we need to fill up our bases and empty them again, that we need to see our schools as tools to get people out in ministry, and the importance of building relationships, both within the YWAM family and with surrounding church leaders.

There was a prophetic call for the YWAM leaders to seek God first, not letting ministries and responsibilities getting in the way of a wholehearted worship of the Lord. In the end, it's all about knowing God. While reading the story of Samson in Judges 16, a man cut his hair, letting it fall over a map of Europe, symbolizing our inability to go in our own strength. Like Samson in his most desperate moment, we recognize our complete dependence on God. This was highlighted through the words in 2. Corinthians 13:4: "For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you."

Regarding the current situation of YWAM Europe (including Siberia), we are now 2455 YWAMers, based in 175 locations in 37 countries. If we we're going to see growth and multiplication times 10, that means 24 550 YWAMers in Europe. How would that look like? There are still places in Europe where YWAM is not represented, and the leaders were challenged to put their eyes on specific locations where they would like to see YWAM established. One of the highlights for many of the leaders was the relational part of the gathering. Thursday night we gathered in small groups around a nice, Latvian meal, creating a platform for new relationships to be built. Here is a DTS-team that was serving us during the conference.
